Fact or Fiction about Weight Loss!
The weight loss industry is littered with many opinions on how to lose weight and keep it off. Millions of people are looking for that miracle weight-loss program and are willing to try anything to lose those extra pounds. Have you heard these examples.
First: Carbohydrates!
Should carbohydrates be avoided in your diet. There are a number of high-protein diets on the market that does promote a diet rich in protein and low in carbohydrates. These types of diets can produce major weight loss very quickly, but the results rarely last for long, and as soon as you begin normal meals again, the weight creeps back on, sometimes more than before!
Second: Genetics I was born with it!
To a certain extent, genetics does play a part in your body’s metabolism, but this doesn’t mean you are doomed in losing weight; it just makes it more difficult. The factor in determining your weight loss lies in the calorie content of the food you eat and how much exercise you get each day. Genetics plays a role in deciding how many calories you will burn. A slow metabolic rate will burn calories slower; however, a fast rate burns calories much quicker. There are ways to get around this Genetics thing, and you can do it, just don’t give up.
Third: Fat should be avoided!
Some believe that cutting down on all fat is necessary while you are trying to lose weight. However, the key factor in fat control is cutting down on the bad one’s like saturated and trans fat and increase your intake of the better fats such as polyunsaturated and Omega-3. fish, avocados and olive oil are a great source for good fats.
Fourth: Skipping Meals!
Skipping meals will make it more difficult to lose weight. Regular meals are necessary to keep your metabolism working correctly and when you skip meals, you have a tendency to gorge yourself when the opportunity presents itself. You need to train your mind to think healthy, this means more foods like vegetables, salads, nuts and fruits!
Fifth: White Food!
What are these foods and should you avoid them? Pears, avocados and nuts are considered to be white foods, but what really counts is the nutrient contained in the pears, avocados and nuts, not the color. So contrary to past thinking, these foods are very good for you.
Sixth: Grapefruit Miracle!
This is one item that has no basis; however, Grapefruits are good for you and contains nutrients that may help fight off cancer and heart disease. Some do promote grapefruit as a way to lose fat. Some think the grapefruit is magic and contains enzymes that burn the fat to help you lose weight simply by eating the fruit. However, we really don’t know of any proven facts to back this. The question is whether the funding behind the research was provided by the citrus industry to promote the Grapefruit.
Now you have six so-called ways for weight loss that you may or may not have been familiar with. Losing weight is possible and there are great programs available that will set you on the path to a thinner you and a healthier life.
